I made this shopping cart cover using the leftover fabrics from Riley’s Bedding. I used McCall’s Pattern M5721. I thought I was smarter than the pattern and enlarged the leg holes because they didn’t look big enough on the pattern. I was wrong. I know, it happens. ;) I wish I didn’t do that. I didn’t use any batting because I didn’t want a big fluffy cover. I wanted something that would wash well and tuck in nicely into it’s attached bag. I’m glad I made that decision. I embroidered her name a few times on it and added some loops to the pocket in the front to attach her toys/rattles to. The only other thing I added that the pattern didn’t call for was the ruffle. (Had to make it girlie). It fits on the restaurant high chairs too.

Riley’s Owl Dress
I made this dress using Sandi Henderson’s Portabellopixie Claire Pattern. I love this pattern!!! The pattern comes with color step-by-step directions. Great for beginners! I think I got the fabric from Joann’s. (With my 40% off coupon, of course.) :-) I digitized the owl applique on the apron. So, if you want it, you can have it. Just let me know and I’ll e-mail it to ya. I eventually made this bow to go with the dress. It’s just a bow with a covered button in the middle.
Dedication Dress
I used the material and notions that were originally purchased for my wedding dress. I didn’t end up making/wearing a wedding dress. I made this dedication dress and bow for Lexi. I used Simplicity 7488. We pulled it out and tried to recreate the same picture with Riley. Can you tell who is who?
The black and white pictures are different. One is Riley and one is Lexi. The color photos are to show you the dress in detail.
Bitty Baby Dress
I made this dress, bloomers, and these shoes while I was still pregnant with Riley. Finished them on her due date, 08-08-08. Of course she didn’t come for 8 more days. :D My little sweetie. They were all super easy patterns.
- Bitty Baby Dress is a FREE pattern from Rae’s blog
- The Bloomers were prolly Butterick Pattern 3782
- The Shoes were from Etsy
The shoes and bloomers were too big.
Diaper Bag Essentials and Blanket
I purchased this Petunia Pickle Bottom Diaper Bag to match our stroller. I love it. Of course I had to make a semi-matching Wipes Case and Paci Holder for it. I guess I must have been rushing because I embroidered Riley’s name on the Paci Holder upside down. For the Paci Holder, I used Butterick Pattern B5005. I also made a Paci-Clip so we don’t lose Riley’s pacifier. I made the little black cinch bag for the diaper garbage bags. Then I needed to make a black and red blanket to go with the whole black and red theme. This blanket is so soft and very warm!
Diaper Wipes Case Tutorial to come.
Paci-Clip Tutorial to come.
Oh, then I made this green wipes case to go with her “daycare” diaper bag. We had to keep switching out her diaper bag during the day. So we just started using the black one that we got from the hospital as her daycare diaper bag. It works.
Coming Home Outfit
I made this coming home outfit for Riley. I still had the same pattern that I used to make Lexi’s coming home outfit. I love this pattern. I made the Hat, Paci-Clip, and Burp Pad too. Here are some pictures of Lexi and her lil Sis. :D So precious!
Riley’s Room on a Budget!
First let me say that we are renting. :( So I was limited to what I could do to Riley’s room. I could only paint, because I can paint over it when we move out. I couldn’t paint the oak trim. I did change out the overhead light to the chandelier, but I kept the old light to put back when we move. That said….
While I was pregnant we painted the the ceiling and halfway down the walls white. (Drue, Seester-in-law, and I.) Then, we painted about halfway up the walls, pink. Then I copied the pattern from the main fabric onto the walls, all the way around. Then, painstakingly filled it all in with brownish green to match the fabric.

- Made the Dust Ruffle
- Made the Cribsheet

- Made the Chandelier
Bought an old black iron chandelier off Craigslist for 20 bucks. Sprayed it white. Bought the shades at Michael’s on clearance for ONE dollar each. Covered them in coordinating fabrics. Added the boa. I got the beads in a 4 pack. They are 60″ necklaces that I think I paid like $1.75 for.
I just draped them over the iron. And then they’re just resting on the light fixture. The font on the monogramed shade is called “Harrington”. I did it in Embird with Font Engine. - Decoupaged or Painted the letters for Riley’s name
- Bought the dresser from Babies R Us for about 1/4 of the original price off the clearance section…and it is part of the set for her crib! Wish I could find the armoire!
- Made the Diaper Wipes Box
- Made the Changing Pad Cover
- Made the Lampshade (forgot to monogram it first.
) - Added the fabric to the small side table

This room was sooooo fun to do!
My Scanner Rocks the Cash Box!
I made the graphic near the header on my page. I placed some of my frequently used notions onto my scanner and put a piece of fabric over it. I’m quite pleased. :) Still trying to figure out where to save my files so you can download them. I say, “you” as if someone is actually reading this.
