Kitchen Table

When we decided to move into this particular house, we started hunting on Craigslist for a kitchen table.  We would be using our current one in our new dining room.  I found this deal on Craigslist for $50!!!  Bargain.  Solid wood!  Had some cigarette burns on the table top and one of the chairs was missing a couple of dowels.  Easy fixes.  I envisioned painting this black and distressing it.  I haven’t painted the legs because I haven’t sanded them yet.  The tops of the chairs aren’t even painted completely yet, but this project sure has gone faster than I had originally thought.  We’ve had some great weather here in Nor-Cal.  I think it got up to 61 today.  Not bad for the end of January.

You get the picture.  Doesn’t the table look amazing so far?  Looks expensive.  =D  Considering sewing some sort of slip cover for the backs of the chairs.  Haven’t settled on anything yet.  Any suggestions?

SUPPLIES

  • 4 inch Foam Roller
  • Assorted sizes of Foam Brushes
  • Sandpaper (I used 100 grit to sand the stain and 220 grit in between paint.)
  • Behr paint in Disney Black
  • One drop cloth. (Unless your sister-in-law leaves hers at your house, then you can use that one.)  Boy do I owe my sis-in-law a lot of favors.  :D

Thanks for looking.

Apothecary

016

Wanted to add to my original post:
I took the bases off.  Yuck.  And gave them their proper base tonight.  They look so much better.  I need patience.  If I would have just waited a day, I would have saved time and money.

Today I wanted to tell you about a great home dec site I stumbled upon.  The site gave instructions for these little babies…

008I got to Michael’s at 8:50pm, so I only had 10 minutes to gather my supplies. It was too late to go anywhere else to find substitutes for anything, so I was stuck with what I found.  Today I went to Joann’s and found round bases for the bottoms and they are drying as I type.  Going to try and knock those others off and put on the round ones.  Here’s the website I was talking about..

I moved :(

A week before Christmas ‘09 we moved.  We only moved a mile away from our last house, but it feels much farther.  This is why I haven’t blogged lately.  One good thing that came out of the move is now I have my own craft room.  It is not decorated, but it has all of the essentials.  Sadly, I have only sewn one thing since getting my own space.  It’s upstairs and not Riley-proof.  But over the next few days I will be posting some projects that I have worked on.
