Meredith’s Ribbon Boards

017

As most of you know, my office has relocated and I have a new cubicle that needed a feminine touch.  :)
See OFFICE CUBICLE MAKEOVER HERE.

009For my cubicle makeover, I custom fit/made some RIBBON BOARDS to go on one of the cubicle walls.007bOne of my co-workers, Meredith, liked them so much that she made some too!  Here are hers in action!!  Love the “garden theme”.  Great job Meredith!! Thanks for sharing your cubicle with us!

Tin Decorative Thing :)

011
The picture above is the “BEFORE” picture.  I know, it looks good as it is. I liked the color of it already, but it didn’t match the color scheme of myOffice Cubicle Makeover.

012_0

I found this Tin Can at Ross for (let’s peak on the bottom) $3.00!

013

I painted just the blue part and waited for that to dry.  Then I used my 3M Sanding Block to rub the paint off of the raised part.

018

I lived with it like that for a couple of days and then decided that it just doesn’t look finished.  I even took it down to the office to “try it on”, but no go. So I brought it back home and gave it a coat of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in heirloom white (satin).  Then, I used a smoke glaze.  Paint on, Wipe off.  I added a bow to the knob on top. Looking at it now on this post makes me want to bring it home again and sand it down.  What do you think?

Follow Me

I’m trying to add a “follow me” thing for those of you with google accounts and/or blogger accounts.  It looks a bit wonky still.  Will work on it again tomorrow.  :D

Charging Station

001

I was going to come up with my own design of a charging station and make it out of fabric covered foam board….BUT….when I got to Walgreens to purchase the foam board I was kind of surprised that it was $5.00/sheet.  So, I put it back and went to the photo dept to pick up some pictures I was having developed.  Which led me right by this charging station. 005  It had a clearance price tag of $7.50.  I thought that was a great deal, considering the foam board alone was going to cost me $5!

  • So, I took this baby home and sprayed it black.  I’ve been using Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch (Ultra Cover 2x coverage) for the things in my office cubicle.  FLAT BLACK.
  • I ironed on a piece of Pellon Fusible Interfacing onto my new fabric to keep from fraying.
  • I used the original “felt” pieces that were already glued to the charging station as my template.  Laid them over my fabric, traced them, and cut them out.
  • Then, I used my trusty Fray Check to insure that it won’t fray around the edges.
  • Spray glued the fabric pieces in place.
  • Then, for a splash of red, I cut out this little design on my cricut and glued it to the front.  Not sure if the design is too busy for all that fabric?  What do you think?  Should I trade it out for a fluer de lis?

Well this little beauty goes along with the rest of my office cubicle found here.

Thanks for looking!

Office Cubical Make-Over

009

Okay, you’ve heard me talk about having to move to a new office. It’s super far away from my home and I’m stomping my feet the whole way. I figured if it was pretty, I might actually want to go. We’ll see. I have one more week before I call it home. Here is the unveiling…although by now you’ve learned that it’s never enough, there will always be more. :D
Here are links to all of the things so far:

Office Chair

Can you believe that I picked up this chair at a rummage sale for $5.00!?!?  Crazy!  It has so many levers on it, I don’t think I’ll be able to use them all!  I only have this before picture.  I snapped it while making the slipcover.  Was going to get a picture of the chair for the BEFORE picture, but forgot while I was sewing.  Oh well, you get the idea of what an awesome find this is!!!
008
I pinned the fabric to the chair right sides in. That gave me my template. I just sewed along where the pins were. I needed to throw in some red, so I made this huge bow out of fabric. I slipped the cover on and took a needle and thread and did sort of a blanket stitch along the bottom.
014
For the seat, I did a typical reupholstering job. I’ll have to take pix of the underneath, as it came out perfect. I took out the staples of the liner. Then, I just stapled on the new fabric over the old fabric. After that, I re-stapled the liner back on. I love it! Hubby said, “you shouldn’t cover that chair, it doesn’t look like an office chair anymore, it looks like furniture” “Thank you!” :D

Mouse Pad

I apologize for being missing in action lately. With the holidays and stuff, I’m a little behind on my posts. But I’ve been getting a lot done for my Office Cubicle Make-over!! Here is a MOUSE PAD that I made pretty.
006b
See, it used to be plain black. It was old and dirty. After cleaning it a little with a baby wipe, I let it dry.
001

Then, I sprayed it with my trusty Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.
002
elmers
After letting it sit for a few minutes, I laid the fabric over it, and pressed down evenly.
004
Then I used my straight edge and rotary cutter to cut along the edges.
005
I went around the edges with Fray Check so that it doesn’t fray after using it.

Tada! A coordinating mouse pad!
