Embroidered Tee for B-day

img_6824b I purchased this shirt back in the Spring of ‘07 from Walmart.  I think it was around $3.88.  You can’t beat that!  It was cute without anything on it.  I added this princess crown applique and added her name using Embird with Font Engine.  I also added the number 7 inside the circles on the top of the crown. This was for her 7th birthday.  Just something for Autum to wear to school.  She loved it. I just wish I didn’t embroider it so high on the shirt.  Oh well. Thanks for looking!

By the way, the original crown design came from Ann The Gran for FREE. :) The fabric for the applique came from Joann’s. img_6818b

Yoga Bag

img_6981b Back in the Spring of 2007, my friend ask me to make a yoga bag for her. I had never done one before. I got the pattern for the bag itself (just cut 2 for a liner) from Wild Ginger.  This is a free pattern maker program. You print the pattern out on your printer. I got the embroidery design from my favorite Sewforum site!!  Thank you Augusanta!! img_6980b

The pink denim is from Joann’s and the polka dot is a Michael Miller fabric from a local Quilt Shop in Vegas. I had to figure out the zipper pocket. She wanted a pocket on the front, but she wanted it to zip. So a few “frog stitches” and it looks good. img_6979b

Thanks for looking! And go check out Wild Ginger!!

Bibs, and Burps, and Babies, OH MY

Lots of friends means lots of babies!  Here are just a few bibs, burp clothes, and paci clips when I was first starting out.  My favorite back then was “updog”.   img_7055b I made that for a friend who loved The OFFice.  I remember when I posted it my favorite sewing forum, in the free downloads, I got a ton of questions about it.  :)  Some of the ladies kept asking what it meant. I should post it in MY free section on this site.  I think I’ll do that this week. Oh and that one about myspace.  Does myspace still exist?  That one was for my cousin and his wife. LOL img_6997b

img_6998b

Haha…this was for one of my gorgeous friends.  She adopted a little boy.

img_6996b

And this was for my gorgeous friend’s hubby.  Well, for their adopted son.

img_7060b

I made a bunch of paci clips too.  I loved making these.  Not sure if any of them got any use though.?? I made like 3 or 4 of them for my Riley Bug before she was born and I don’t remember using any of them.  Mostly because she didn’t really use a paci. She barely uses it for sleeping.

Thanks for looking.  Feel free to leave questions or comments.  :)  Bloggers love comments.

A Gift for Cierra

img_7244

Lexi needed a gift for one of her school friends.  We loved going to Cierra’s b-day parties while we lived in Las Vegas.  They were soooo fun!  They were over-the-top kind of parties and the kids always had a blast. They have a pool, and it’s Las Vegas, so we went with a flip-flop theme. img_7238b

1) Tote Bag purchased from Joann’s with 40% off coupon. Total $1.93
2) Towel purchased from Anna’s Linens. Total $5.38
3) Flip Flops from Old Navy. Total $2.50
4) Water toy from the $Tree. Total $1.08
5) One roll of ribbon from Joann’s with 40% off coupon. Total $1.80
6) Fabric for applique. Total $1.50
I had the Koozie and thread and stuff.
Grand Total $14.19 img_7240

I remember looking at Cierra’s cute face while opening this gift.  It was priceless…until she opened her next gift, which was a digital camera! Nowthat was priceless!  :D img_7241b

I went to the website where I got the flip flop design from and the website no longer exists.  :( img_7242b

A Post

Wow, I haven’t blogged in so long that I had to actually log in to my account. So much for the “remember me” tab. :)

I’m not a writer, I admit it. But I love this blog so much. I love sharing my projects with you and I love inspiring you to try something you’ve never tried before. I would say that I’m not sure if anyone actually reads this blog, but to be honest, I check my stats almost everyday. Is that pathetic? I find myself thinking, especially during my long commute to work, about my next project. I can’t wait to share them with you. Sometimes I struggle with how to spend my time. “Do I sit down and write a blog post or do I start my next project?”

Decisions!  Decisions!

I try to only devote my time to my “hobbies” after Riley Bug has gone to bed. So that gives me about 2 hours (at the most) to play. I am usually upstairs in my “craft room”. I have my favorite things in there here. <– Seriously, I have always wanted to do that, you know, the crossing out the word thing.  LOL Anyway, my favorite things in here are:

  1. My Embroidery/Sewing Machine
  2. My Serger
  3. My Cricut
  4. My Computer with all of my fun Software
  5. My Cutting Table

I have to thank the Hubs for letting me have this room all to myself.  <— I almost used the crossing out the word thing again, but thought it might be overkill.  So it is supposed to by my craft room, but with all this fun stuff in here, how could I keep it all to myself?  I love when my daughters are in here hanging out with me. Lexi could probably teach me a thing or two about the Cricut.  She has used that thing for more school projects than I have all together.  Riley Bug is curious and always finds a drawer to empty while hanging out with Mom.

Well, this is just me trying to give you a little glimpse into my blog mind. I promise, from now on, no posts without pictures.  Pictures are much more fun.

Speaking of, just wait till you see what I found off Craigslist…for FREE!  It’s currently sitting on my back patio, freshly sanded. :) And, I can’t wait to show you the awesome designs that I did using Embird.  Love that software! I can’t show you yet, because they’re for a special Mommy who is about to have a baby. Hopefully I can get my machine serviced so that I can whip out my projects before the baby comes.

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it.
hugs

Random Embroideries of the past

Ran across some pictures of things that I embroidered for others. I didn’t feel like doing a blog post for each of them on their own, so I decided to put them all together.  This would be a great time to thank you for actually stopping by my blog. I appreciate it!

Strawberries

003
I know what you’re going to say, I totally cheated. Okay, I did, but going to the store and picking out 3 potted plants of strawberries (that were already sprouting strawberries) was a big step for me. It was such a nice day and 20 month old Riley and I were spending the day together. It was too warm to be cooped up in the craft room all day. :-)

The guy in the nursery was so helpful. He told me what to do and told me what to buy. We had the PERFECT spot for the new plants. 007
Of course now I want to go and dig up that middle plant and move it to the left a few inches. I probably would do it if I didn’t think it would do any harm to the recently transplanted plants. 006

I would like to thank my Dear Friend Monica!!  She was my inspiration!  Hey Mon, next time, I’ll start with seeds, maybe.  I wonder if this what it’s like to bake a cake from a box?  ’Cause that’s what it feels like.

Oh, and Riley’s missing her shorts because during her nap, I made her a few pair of shorts and we were trying them on.  I knew that we’d be playing in the dirt and never put her other ones back on.  And now you know, the rest of the story.

A Visit from the Governor’s Wife

img_7533b

[This picture was taken in our front room by her driver.]

In April of 2oo7, while doing foster care, we had a very special visit by the Governor’s Wife.  First Lady Dawn Gibbons came to MY HOUSE! I guess she was asking around about visiting a foster home. She learned that my husband and I were “Shelter Parents of the year for Clark County” and requested a visit. We were contacted the day before and informed that she would be coming. So, I had one day to get these backpacks done. I had gone on-line to research her family and discovered that she had 3 little grandchildren.  Since I make these little backpacks for all of our foster children, I thought it would be appropriate to make them for her grands.  It’s just a little taste of what the kids experience while in our home. :) All of our kids got a backpack/tote bag and a photo album of their stay while they were in our home.

  • Riley img_7530b
  • Brooke img_7531b

She met our kids, toured our home and was very appreciative of the backpacks. She then invited our entire family to come and spend the night at the Governor’s mansion in Carson City and gave me the contact info.  (At the time, we were living in Las Vegas.) My daughter just happened to have a field trip coming up 2 weeks later to Carson City.  While we were unable to take the whole family to spend the night, we were able to get my daughter’s class in for a tour of the Governor’s mansion.  (Not an easy task so last minute.)

Soon after the First Lady stopped by, we received this package in the mail with a nice note from her.  =)  Thank you First Lady Gibbons! img_7542b

I am truly blessed that she took the time out of her busy schedule to visit us. OH BY THE WAY…when we toured the mansion we saw the backpacks hanging on the wall under the stairs.  She always has a special item for the kids when they come to visit and now they go straight to their backpacks hanging on the wall to find it when they arrive.  :D

I was so sad to learn that the Governor and First Lady are no longer married. I still think of the First Lady fondly. I wish her well in all that she does.

Baby Shower Gifts

It was a girl!  This was a set I did for my really good friend.  Her baby is not so much a baby anymore.  :)  This was made to match her bedding. Since the shower was for Mommy and Daddy, I decided to make some bibs that I knew Dad would get a kick out of.  He plays an on-line pvp game and the quotes all have something to do with it.  (W.O.W.)

Here is where you can find the FREE Pattern for the Tag Ball and Tag Blanket. I have made tons of these!

Gift for Tatiana

img_7566

A few years ago, one of our Foster children needed a gift to take to a birthday party.  The Birthday girl’s name was Tatiana.  This is what I made to take to her party.

  • I purchased the Pink Tote bag at Walmart and embroidered her name on it. img_7563
  • I embroidered her name and embroidered this flip-flop applique on a towel for her. img_7564
  • I embroidered her name on a ribbon and sewed it to an o ring.  I picked up the O rings at Home Depot. They come in a box and are in the garden section.  Then I slipped that over a water bottle. img_7565

I chose this beach theme because we were living in Las Vegas and it is so hot during the summer time.  Most of the kids spend the long hot summer days swimming. :)  Birthday girl loved it.
